RECOVERY TIME: Immediate

Botox is a FDA approved treatment, made from a variety of botulinum toxin. The toxin interferes with the nerve impulses that create wrinkles through repeated use. When these impulses are blocked and the signal to fire is not received in the brain, the wrinkles do not respond. While Botox remains in effect the muscles remain disabled and the skin of the face has time to rest.

In the last 10 years over 11 million patients have used Botox to treat wrinkles on the forehead and face, crow’bluk s feet, frown lines and other fine lines that are the result of repeated movements in the face and aging. Many patients choose to make Botox a regular treatment to maintain the softening of fine lines, and wrinkles on the face. Healthy patients who respond well to Botox may be able to receive treatments every 3 to 4 months.

Botox treatments are fast and simple. After your Dr. Yoo has determined that you are a good candidate for Botox he will ask questions and examine your facial structure and the muscles that cause wrinkles and other problem areas. Beverly Hills Plastic surgeon Dr. Donald B. Yoo will administer a series of a few tiny injections directly to the affected muscles. Most patients find the injections to be easily tolerable, and ice or anesthetic cream can be used to numb the area prior to treatment for patients who are concerned about discomfort.

The entire treatment us usually lasts about 10 minutes and you will see the treatments begin to take effect in as little as 1 to 2 days, with maximum effect at 7-10 days. Patients may notice continued improvement for up to 30 days following treatment and these improvements typically stay with patients for up to 4 months, but results will vary depending on each patient’s body chemistry. Botox treatments require no down time and you can continue with your day without side effects or any need to rest.

V-line (masseter reduction)

A special Botox injection procedure that is extremely popular with Asian plastic surgery and Korean plastic surgery patients is the “V-line” procedure, or masseter reduction. The masseter is a strong muscle that attaches on the side of the jaw and helps in chewing. It can be easily felt when clenching your teeth. In patients with square or rounded jaws, injecting Botox or Dysport into this muscle can reduce it’s bulk, and sharpen the jaw-line. A rounded or square jaw-line becomes a V-line, creating the effect of having looked like you lost 5-10 pounds. For many Asian plastic surgery and Korean plastic surgery patients, this is a common procedure for females that want to achieve a prettier, more feminine look, and for men that want to lose weight without having to hit the gym.
