Buccal Fat Removal (buccal fat pad removal) can slim fuller lower cheeks (sometimes called “chipmunk cheeks”) so your face looks more contoured and your cheekbones feel more defined. Board-certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. Donald B. Yoo performs the procedure through a small incision inside the mouth (no external facial scars), carefully removing excess cheek fat under general anesthesia in about 1–1.5 hours. Most patients recover in about two weeks, with results that are permanent and clear guidance as residual healing continues to settle over the following months.
